Hi guys,
The current special (if no further delays interrupt us) will end between october 24th to October 26th (considering delays).
So let's pick November 1st as the date for the release of the next special.
Considering that this year's Christmas special will begin on December 1st and it will be The slave ship (Cat x Callista) you could either pick a short story or a very long one that would be interrupted halfway to let the Special begin (kinda like what happened last year).
You could decide to pick a story that completes a cicle that I could put together a volume and release the pdf.
Or decide to start a brand new volume too! XDD
You can even propose stories for the next round.
It's up to you: you have multiple choices available. As in... you can give more than one vote.
Here are the specials available next - you can read the Summary first:
- Circes (this is the story of how Castalia got to meet Circes and so we get to know why she is also affected by her spells and is so scared of this woman) SHORT
- Murder in Bologna (this story covers the second to last one of the Origins cicle - here we see how Kane and Wes met Martin during their University years and also got to solve a murder) LONG
- How durians arrived in Italy (this is a story set on my side of the World - South East Asia, where I currently live - so you get to see malay pirates, bugis pirates and tonchin pirates and pontianaks and zombies hahaha) MEDIUM
- Badia (in this story you see Kane and Castalia going back to Sicily and Castalia gets to see her Kane in a different light - they also stumble upon the local mafia boss and life becomes less easy). MEDIUM
But here are some of the other stories I have planned:
- While you were away (this is the story Nicoli read in Long Overdue when Pifo explained her what happened to Josh) SHORT
- Abduction to the serraglio (Kes gets kidnapped by Turkish pirates and ends up in a very odd serraglio) MEDIUM
- Animal talk (I think this is the story where we get to see all the animals in the story, tell the story from their point of view) SHORT
- Lio and the stork (this is a short short story about Lio trying to bargain with a stork to get a baby) SHORT
- Zizack and Pearlie (clearly we know what this is about). MEDIUM
Along the way I also came up with these ideas:
- The slave ship (concludes the dilemma of Cat and Feetsie having babies and it also gives an ending to Lio and the stork) CHRISTMAS SPECIAL
- Family Traditions (a Jewish family moves on the island of Amado and Wes feels odd about it, especially since their presence creates problem between Itzak, Cosimo and their friends). (I would live this as the Christmas Special next year)
- Our Little Brother (is the last story belonging to the Origins cicle and tells us about the meeting between Kane, Josh and their little brother Amil). SHORT
One more story, I suspect many of you will ask for it right away because it's the continuation to Long Overdue:
- The Gem of the Mediterranean Sea.
I actually need some more time to flash this one out as I only have in mind the overall spine.

Let's rate the specials.
I understand that some specials were not liked as much as others, be it the drawing style or the seriousness of the story... so let me see which one you liked the most so that I can stay away from the stories you are not quite so interested in reading and are not your cup of tea.
Limits and boundaries are good things as they challenge creativity.
I've decided to do ratings instead of polls so that you could express your opinion on all of them instead of just having to pick one.
Be honest!
I know you are very nice people and would want to go 5 stars on all of them :D, thank you but

Calendar polls closed
This is another Noppakao, or should I say Noppacow! A fan art of Rose by my mentor Noppy.The polls for the calendar are closed, results:

Only 29 people voted I guess that's how many I a working for! XDD Anyways the calendar is into its 7th month and will be a desk calendar with the illustration on the calendar.
Just for the heck of it I will make a posterlike one with the calendar in the middle and the illustrations to the side... because some people wanted to hang stuff on the walls.
So I've asked if you wanted anything for Christmas... and it seems like you have everything... gosh, so hard to give presents to people who already have everything...
so here is my proposal:
- maybe I could design for you Christmas decorations.
- maybe I could design for you a paper Christmas stocking to hang on the wall so that pirate Santa can bring you pirate presents.

OC contest - polls!

I would like to remind you their stories so Pick the story too not just a good looking character (I mean it!).
Clyde and the old lady by Zoeyagent
"The old lady will take Kane away from Castalia while in the middle of a crowd in a market place (or something) thinking it's her husband because of her oldness and such (poor eyesight).... and she rambles on about the passed... "Oh I remember the time...." Kane tries to fight back from the old ladies clutches but she interrupts and babbles on and on about the old days living in her exaggerated fantasies..... When Kane finds a way out he latches some random person (Clyde) from wherever to the old lady which doesn't seem to notice....
Then Clyde will notice who is on him, and seeing that Kane did it he will say.... "DAMN YOU PIRATE BALTHAZAR", Old lady then taps him harshly in the face because of language.... then says "Honey, Language!"
This old lady would probably be about a little over half of Kane's height with squinted eyes.... and Every time she sees Castalia she will say "just one moment little boy"...... and if she sees pifo she will say "little girl"..... "

Everyone is standing around (talking/walking/etc.) in the marketplace when one of the gang feels a tug on their clothes. That person (who is the approached person? Imagine the possibilities *wiggle eyebrows*) looks down and sees a little boy who has yet to lose his baby fat smiling shyly upwards with his hands behind his back. He then suddenly brings out flowers and says "you're pretty, will you marry me?". Sadly, due to age differences (or gender similarities), he is rejected; but he's alright because he gets a promise/orange/something to placate him and he runs off to a woman who is shouting "JULIAN!!!"
I have no clue if that name is appropriate? There's nothing extraordinary about this boy other then he is extremely cute haha. Growing up to be a heartbreaker that one. :) Again, sorry my drawing is not particularly polished, I only know how to use a pen and scanner and somehow it always end up looking strange after being scanned.... He has jet black hair btw, though I forgot to colour it in :p
Allegra by Kanako
Second child of a wealthy Sicilian family, Allegra has a strong temper. She speaks only when requested and says what she’s expected to say, but what really talks is her eyes’ expressions. She could speak calm and sweet and yet looking at you with a killing gaze.
She’s quite skinny but she had a substantial dowry, which allowed her father to marry her with the current chief of Martin Steeves. Her husband isn’t strong enough to cope with her and he ended yielding to Allegra’s will. So in the end are Allegra and her father who command in her husband’s place and send Martin after Kane (that’s because of something really old pending between Allegra’s grandfather Costanzo and Kane’s grandfather... you know, family duty XD)
About her appearance in the comic, I imagine a scene like this: Martin doing his report to his chief and Allegra standing behind her husband’s chair, commenting and advising both her husband and the captain XD And her poor husband sink into the chair XD

Katharina Althanasius Wolf
Height: 5’7” (Foxy’s height)
Age: 19
Hair: Dark Strawberry Blond
Eyes: Pale Blue
Katharina Wolf is a young German woman living along the Mediterranean Coast with her scientist father. Her mother has passed away and so her life is just a matter of following her father around Europe while he researches.
She’s seen in the background looking for something first. Then has a yelling fit in German looking up at the sky, “Heinrich! Raus aus dem Fenster! Sie sind ein Schmerz in meinem…” (Heinrich! Get out of the window! You are a pain in my…) Josh turns back to move to her.
“Can I help you…” She interrupts by yelling at the window again where there is a gray kitten.
“Damnit! Get down!” He blinks at her, taken a back as she starts hopping at the window. Carefully he reaches up and pulls the kitten down handing it to her. She glances at him, glares and then turns to walk away quickly. The cat meows and she turns to look down at it. “No, Heinrich, he was not THAT handsome…” She looks back flushes and then skitters away behind a building. Josh is left bewildered. Kane steps in.
“Who was that?”
“I have no idea….but I wouldn’t mind finding out.”

Dahlia is a rich, highly desirable lady, at the height of fashion and a mastermind at the politics of noble houses. (Incidently, I think Pea and her would get along great!). She is however, very caring and carries around a terribly wounded heart. Probably the reason she acts so superior and prideful is to hide her inner weakness.
Anyway, I thought for the contest she would run into them in town (or on a ship if they attack a rich one or whatever.) and she would say something along the lines of "A rose should be the center of attention." Than she would huff and turn away. "However, this does have the feel of a cameo role." and than she would simply walk off. Or whatever.

First of all thanks to all the 184 people who voted in such a short amount of time (we're getting very good at this! :D).
But here's the dilemma: which one should go first?

A new poll
Here we go, guys... I've decided to start a new poll, since you've picked the cover for volume 2 (and it seems obvious, at this point, that Cat and Callista will have volume 3, Lio and Foxy volume 4 and Pea and her love interest will be on volume 5)...
But I am almost done with the presentation pages for the characters, and soon I will run out of extras for the comic, so I thought: I wonder if they would like to see crazy pin up illustrations in form of fan art?

tic tac 18! - and polls
So update is tomorrow night... are you ready?Me... I am almost done and confident I will not overkill myself to upload at the very last minute.
So... our second poll closed and guess who won?
Westley and Cassandra! They are going on the cover of volume 2.
Why am I not surprised?
As I was saying... I am looking into the Alphonse Mucha style... she will be wearing medicinal herbs and flowers in her hair and in the back cover her holds some of the flowers in his hand (as if he is the one who put them on her head XDD). I'll show you sketches soon... I am still working on Westley's.
I am a bit unsure about the the framing but I have time to think about it...
and... yah, actually Wes and Kes will be on the cover of chapter 7 as well...
which means something happens!!! Well, something big happens to them in chapter 6 too... but chapter 7 is more important, just... don't get a cow! - what you see up there "Placing bets" that's what you'll get on chapter 7's cover. After that Kane and Castalia are coming back on chapter 8!

Yes, yes, I know, it actually closed a while ago but I have not been around. Where have you been, Deda? Sorry, I have been traveling, shooting a movie, scanning drawings and running around like crazy (and I still have forgotten a page back home so... the chapter will go up right on schedule but you'll see something weird in the last 3 pages ^^ - the problem shall be fixed in the following 2 days, once I get ahold of my light table again).
But let us comment the results of our polls.

I guess her strong and creative way of approaching things has gotten people more involved in her story. To be honest, she is the type of character to steal the scene, good thing is... this is a choral story so there is NO protagonist and if she stands out the most it's not really a problem, it's only natural, she dominates, she rules... and it's nice to see the votes spreading in such a nice way - almost in an equal way - amongst the first 3 girls.
Actually I tend to use Cassandra a lot because I like her reactions too, hahahaha. I wonder if, with time, we'll see the other girls get more votes too. What do you think? Do you like the results?

I honestly thought it would be a tough fight for the top 3 guys too... but... Kane kinda rocked! Lolz! Instead the fight was between second and third place, that is Westley and Cat. No doubts these are the 3 guys to stand out more in the story!
So Kane is such a babe and he is funny, he is sunny and happy-go-lucky with a twist! Since he is The Pirate Balthasar he is the one who needs to have more of the protagonist material in him... I didn't mean for him to be completely dominant though but I did want him to shine a bit!
I wonder if somebody else will shine more in the future... so much as to steal the first place in the polls! XD
If you are wondering if I voted... I did. My special vote went to Pifo but I have not been fair: I know what happens next and that is why I love him! XDD
As for the pirates... I voted the cook: Quoque-Tu... I was hungry and when I am hungry my stomach decides for me: vote the cook! vote the cook! Click! Hahahahaha
